Report: Troy Sees Residential Building Boom

The sounds of hammers and drills, coupled with the smells of sawdust and concrete, filled the air throughout Troy in 2012.

The city ranks ninth in metro Detroit for the number of residential building permits pulled in 2012, according to The Detroit News.

Permits being pulled are an indicator of future homebuilding — and additional tax dollars coming into the city.

In 2012, there were 104 residential building permits issued in Troy, according to The Detroit News. 

The city ranks sixth in metro Detroit for population gain from the 2010 U.S. Census to July 1, 2012, with 1,091 new residents.
