$6,100 Stolen from PTA Account: West Bloomfield Police
The money disappeared from Pleasant Lake Elementary PTA account between Sept. 1, 2014, and April 26, 2016, police say.

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI – About $6,100 was embezzled from a Pleasant Lake Elementary PTA, and  a 35-year-old West Bloomfield resident and PTA member with access to the funds is the prime suspect.
The PTA for the school, which is part of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, is cooperating with the investigation, West Bloomfield Deputy Chief Curt Lawson said, according to a C & G News. Lawson told Patch that the allegations against the suspect come from the PTA.
The funds disappeared from the PTA account between Sept. 1, 2014, and April 26, 2016, police said.

Police accused the suspect, who hasn’t been named, of making unauthorized transactions from the Pleasant Lake Elementary PTA, and said a debit card in her name had been linked to the account.

The PTA is reportedly workig with the district to ensure that all activities the organization had committed to support will go on as scheduled, including fun runs, trick-or-treating events, movie nights and field days.
The PTA may change some of its financial practices as a result of the embezzlement, including requiring two signatures on checks.
