Eight-hundred WBHS Students Trained in Workplace Safety

West Bloomfield High School Students Trained in Workplace Safety

West Bloomfield, MI- On Monday, September 16, close to eight-hundred business and engineering students at West Bloomfield High School attended workplace safety training provided by PASSES.

PASSES teaches teens and entry-level workers the basics of workplace safety by using firefighters to present an entertaining and informative workshop. The workshop is formed around the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards ensuring safe and healthful working conditions for workers.

Three separate sessions were held to ensure all Career and Technical students were properly trained in safety and health skills to help them succeed and be safe in the workplace and build safety consciousness. Topics included: safe chemical-handling; lifting techniques; ladder safety; proper use of personal protective equipment; adolescent labor law; driving safety; retail safety and sexual harassment.
