The commission’s naturalist will lead dog owners on a guided hike along preserve trails, making stops along the way to learn about and enjoy the splendors of autumn. All dogs must be leashed.
The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Register here.
Next — and this is mainly for adults — the final Canoe & Brew of the season takes place from 5:30-9:45 p.m. on Oct. 15 (meet at the Recreation Activities Center).
The trip provides an “Up North” experience on the scenic Huron River, just a 30-minute bus ride from West Bloomfield.
Finally, children ages 3-12 are invited to take part in the Trick-or-Treat Trail on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Marshbank Park. To cut down on time waiting in line to register, two sessions are offered, one from 3-3:45 p.m. and the other from 4-4:45 p.m.
Kids will collect goodies from costumed characters, local businesses and organizations stationed along the one-half mile paved trail. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes.
Early registration is $6 per child for residents, and $8 per child for non-residents. Pre-registration closes on Oct. 22. Register here.
Capacity is limited, so pre-registration is the best option. Limited on-site registration costs $10 per child, regardless of place of residence.
