Michigan Gas Prices Drop Ahead of July 4th Weekend
Gas costs less leading into July 4 than it has for the past 10 years.

Statewide gas prices fell for the second week in a row, dropping 13 cents to get back under $2.50 per gallon.
Mlive.com reported that the average statewide pump price of $2.47 per gallon on Sunday, June 26, gas costs less leading into July 4 than it has for each of the past 10 years. Last year, Michigan gas cost $2.91 per gallon on average.
More than 1.4 million Michiganders are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home for the holiday, a 1.5-percent increase from last year, and the highest since 2003.

Nearly 43 million Americans will travel this Independence Day weekend, according to a news release. This represents the highest fourth of July travel volume on record and five million more travelers compared to Memorial Day weekend.
