Salsa, Latin Dance Shines at West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center

Mambo Marci, a salsa instructor and entertainer at Mambo Marci Productions, said her West Bloomfield business started in September 2009.

How did your business get started? After experiencing the joys of salsa and Latin dance for about 12 years, I began to "give back" for all the wonderful things it has given me. I now teach Latin dance throughout the metro Detroit area, as well as perform at corporate, private, and group events with my tropical island music band, the Island Fun Band.

What services does your business provide? Group lessons, private and semi-private lessons in salsa, cha-cha-chá, and bachata. My Island Fun Band provides the tropical vacation-feel of steel drums, keyboard & percussion. We play salsa, reggae, soca, Jimmy Buffett, R&B, and several other styles. We also provide DJ services for well-rounded entertainment to fit any budget.

What do you want your business to be best known for? Providing the best in Latin dance instruction and entertainment in town! I am known for being a very patient teacher for beginning level students, and was nominated as "Best Beginning Level Instructor" at the Detroit Salsa Awards.

What's your most popular service? Providing Latin dance instruction, and entertainment with the Island Fun Band.

Why did you choose the location that you did? Although I teach throughout metro Detroit in various locations, including a studio in Southfield for private lessons, I teach a progressive, 6-week class session several times throughout the year. Held in the dance studio at the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center, I have been associated with this room for many years (I was previously the Assistant Director for the Festival Dancers of Metropolitan Detroit--a Jewish cultural, performing dance group. We held our classes and rehearsals there.) This is a wonderful room and great location for many of my students, centrally located and easy to find.
