Six Walled Lake Students to Perform with All-State Ensembles
The six were among 2,000 Michigan student musicians who auditioned.

Six Walled Lake Consolidated School District band and orchestra students have been selected to perform in the 2014 Michigan Schools Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) All-State ensembles.
Over 2,000 students from across the state of Michigan auditioned for the All-State program. The audition required students to perform difficult etudes, a list of memorized scales, and sight-read a piece of music they had never seen before. Only the top performers for each instrument were selected for the All-State Program.
The following Walled Lake Schools students have been selected to perform in the All-State bands and orchestras:

- Ryan Servis, trumpet, Sarah Banks Middle School
- Lauren Glomb, oboe, Walled Lake Northern High School
- Alex Alcorn, clarinet, Walled Lake Northern High School
- Perry Lee, trumpet, Walled Lake Western High School
- Sho Dembinski, trumpet, Walled Lake Western High School
- Ryan Malburg, euphonium, Walled Lake Western High School
“Both the left and right sides of the brain are engaged when learning and practicing instruments and through music education," Kenneth Gutman, superintendent, said. "These six Walled Lake Schools students are prime examples for those extolling the benefits of music education. I applaud the level of excellence they have achieved and wish them well in the MSBOA performance in January,”
The MSBOA All-State ensembles will perform at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Jan. 18.
