Theater Offers Summer Day Camps for Kids, 6-16

Enrollment is under way for Northville’s Marquis Theatre’s day camps for youths ages 6-16, beginning later this month.

Campers receive professional theatrical instruction on a wide range of skills, such as singing, improvisation, acting, stage movement, theater games and audition techniques.

At the end of each two-week session, campers will participate in a Broadway-style musical theater production.

The camps are:

Ducky Camp (girls and boys, ages 6-7): $395 for a two-week session;12:30-5 p.m., Aug. 17-28; Showcase, 8 p.m. Friday, Aug.28.

Day Camp (Boys and girls, ages 8-12): $395 for a two-week session; choose from three sessions:

• 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 20-31 (after-care available until 6 p.m., except July 31); Showcase, 6:30 p.m. July 31.
• 12:30-6 p.m., Aug. 3-14; Showcase, 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14
• 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Aug. 17-28; Showcase, 6:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28

Star Camp (boys and girls, ages 10-15): For advanced actors, with previous experience required, register by phone at (248) 349-8110; $495 for two-week session; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., July 20-31; Showcase, 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Broadway Camp (boys and girls, ages 11-16): for elite actors, with previous experience required and based on approval, register by phone at (248) 349-8110; $550 for a two-week session; $550 for two-week session with professional theatrical instruciton based on college-level musical theater performance classes; 1-8 pm., Aug. 3-14; showcase, 8:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14.
