W. Bloomfield Rescue Crews Save Elderly Man Pinned Under Car

The man was taken to a hospital, and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

West Bloomfield Fire and EMS crews rescued an elderly man Friday who was trapped under a car.

Rescue workers responded to an emergency call at around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in 7000 block of Simsbury Drive, according to a fire department press release. At the scene, firefighters and EMS units found the man pinned beneath the car by one of its front tires, the release stated.

The man immediately received medical treatment while the car was secured and safely lifted off of him, according to the release. Once he was pulled out from under the car, the man was taken to a nearby trauma center, and the extent of his injuries was unknown, the release stated.

Fire department officials said they believe the man was dragged by the car before he was pinned underneath it.

No other details about the man or the incident were released by the fire department.
