A bomb threat made over Twitter wasn’t credible, West Bloomfield police said, and classes went on at West Bloomfield High School as scheduled.

The West Bloomfield Police Department said on its Facebook page that is “actively investigating” the threat, and have placed additional resources at the school, which has an enrollment of about 1,700. The school district also has its own security guards.

Twitter user @unnoticed666 directed threats to West Bloomfield High School principal Pat Watson’s account, @wbhslakersports, The Detroit News reports.

The @unnoticed666 account is no longer active, but before it was taken down, the user tweeted “the bomb that my uncle and I constructed will go off if you continue this.”

“I ask for help, and you treat me as an inbred?” read another tweet.

Twitter users asked Watson to cancel school, but he responded early Wednesday morning: “Good morning LakerNation: School will be open today. I will be in the Atrium to answer any and all questions.”

On the unofficial West Bloomfield High School Facebook page, one parent said she planned to go to the school and bring her daughter home.

In a statement, West Bloomfield school superintendent Gerald Hill wrote that the district was aware of the threat, and is “committed to the safety and education of all our students. The district has been working with the West Bloomfield Police Department, and has taken extra precautions to create a safe environment. Together it was determined that classes will resume as scheduled today.”
