Enjoy Sweet (But Sticky) Weekend Fun for the Entire Family

Nothing says Michigan quite like maple syrup.

At two locations from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oakland County residents can learn to identify maple trees, and take a hike to tap a tree and taste the sap.

Maple Magic will be held at Red Oaks Nature Center for residents in the south part of the county or Wint Nature Center for residents of the north part of the county.

Instructors will teach the tools, tips and methods needed to make a batch of maple syrup at home.

Of course, participant will have a chance to taste some some sweet maple treats, and take home maple-based recipes.

Cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration with payment is required at (248) 858-0916 weekdays; (248) 858-0100 (Red Oaks) or (248) 625-6473 (Wint) Saturdays. No refunds will be made. Due to program limitations, walk-in guests may not be accommodated.

Red Oaks Nature Center is located 30300 Hales Street in Madison Heights.

Wint Nature Center is located at 9501 Sashabaw Road in Clarkston.
