Family Movie Night and More This Weekend in the White Lake-Highland Area

Patch is here to make your life ridiculously easy, so as you sit down today and plan your weekend, here are three events you should know about in the White Lake-Highland area. Do you have an event you want to share? Add it to the Patch calendar of events.
1. Family Movie Night at Lakeland July 26
- When: Friday, July 26, 2013, 6:00 PM
- Where: Lakeland High School, White Lake
- What: White Lake Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Huron Valley Recreation and Community Education, and Oakland County Recreation, is hosting a Family Movie Night at the Lakeland High School Campus in White Lake. The event is free to the public and will have open swim, bouncy houses, and a movie under the stars. The fun will start at 6 p.m. The pool will be open for swimming from 6-8:30 p.m., and the movie, The Princess Bride, will start at dusk. People are asked to bring a picnic, chairs/blanket, bug spray and a flash light. Any child wanting to use the bouncy house needs to have socks, and those wanting to swim will need to plan appropriately. Barbeque grills are not permitted. 2. Milford Summer Concert Series presents: Jill Jack
- When: Thursday, July 25, 2013, 7:00 PM
- Where: Central Park, Milford
- What: Acoustic songwriter Jill Jack will perform on Thursday, July 25 at Central Park in downtown Milford as part of the Summer Concert Series. Jill Jack’s magical connection to her audience is the result of her generous artistry. By combining her gifts as a conceptual visionary with a warm gathering of musical influences, Jill touches that secret heart of ours with her melodies and lyrics.
3. Milford Criterium
- When: Sunday, July 28, 2013, 8:00 AM
- Where: Downtown Milford
- What: Downtown Milford will be lined with banners, flags and cheering fans ringing race bells as cyclists take to the streets for the 2013 Milford Criterium. The family-friendly, highly-anticipated race begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 28. Commonly called the “Milford Crit,” the criterium is a short, multi-lap, closed circuit road cycling race held in urban settings. The course starts and finishes on Main Street, weaves through Central Park and snakes along the streets of the Village of Milford. Races begin at 8 a.m. and continue through the day until 4 p.m. There are 11 total fleets, each one for a different skill level, including: junior boys and girls, ages 14 to 18; and men and women, category one through five. A full schedule of the races as well as rules and regulations can be found on the Milford Crit website. Pre-registration for the Milford Crit is open through July 25 online at www.usacycling.org. Day-of registration will also be available starting at 7 a.m. on the day of the race at 344 North Main Street in Milford and will close 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for each race. New this year, Trail's Edge Cyclery will host the Kid's Adventure Zone where children can try out Strider bikes, ride an obstacle course and enjoy other family fun activities. The Kid’s Adventure Zone will be open the entire race day and will be located on Main Street outside downtown Milford’s Mill Valley Shopping Center where Trail’s Edge Cyclery is located. There will also be a Kid’s Fun Race at 1:15 p.m. for children, ages 14 and under, to ride the track that the pros use. There is no fee to enter, however, registration is required. Registration will be open from 11 a.m. to noon and will be located on Main Street behind the announcer's stage.
