Woman Whose Body Found in Pontiac Likely Died Elsewhere: Police

The woman whose body was found in a field was identified as Jennifer Calleja.

Pontiac, MI — Police want to hear from anyone who knows where Jennifer (Witt) Calleja, 30, of White Lake Township, spent the last 72 hours before her body was discovered in Pontiac Wednesday morning

An autopsy performed in Calleja’s body ruled out trauma to the body, as authorities with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office expected, according to a news release.

The cause of death my not been known for four or five weeks, pending the return of toxicology test results.

Calleja was “obviously deceased” when police were dispatched to the corner of Going and Prospect streets around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. A worker on an adjacent lot saw her lying on her back, but did not approach the body.



Authorities said Thursday they think Calleja died at another location and her body was taken to the field.

A fresh set of vehicle tracks was found in the field leading to the spot where the body was found, and nearby resident reported seeing a black vehicle drive into the lot about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.

Calleja had been reported missing to White Lake Township police by her boyfriend, the sheriff’s office said.
