Perhaps this is the best ending to a story that involves an NBA player using a date with his girlfriend as the payoff for losing a Twitter bet with a high schooler.

In January, Woodhaven teen Jaime Guerra used Twitter to ask University of Michigan star and Sacramento Kings guard Nik Stauskas if he could take the NBA player’s girlfriend, Taylor Anderson, to the Woodhaven High School prom this week.

Stauskas agreed—after clearing it with Anderson, a student at the University of Toledo—on one condition: Guerra needed to get 10,000 retweets. Guerra accomplished that and even followed up with a ”promposal” for Anderson, which she accepted.

Of course, the best planned social media stunts can fall apart when real life intervenes. After a Sunday Twitter conversation with the NBA rookie, Guerra was told Stauskas and Anderson broke up, according to a News-Herald report.

Woodhaven Principal Matthew Czajkowski told The News-Herald he wasn’t sure if Anderson, who also was going to be accompanied by Stauskas, would be attending Thursday’s prom. But he stated, “It doesn’t look good.”

There’s no official word if AnderStauskas (StauskAnderson?) are no longer an item, and no official word if they’ll be attending the prom.
