The arrow from the crossbow had a target tip, Eaton County sheriff’s officials said.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, the Humane Society said:
“It has been a very long 24 hours, but we are thrilled to announce that kitty’s status has been upgraded from guarded to excellent. As of this morning, he is purring, eating, and seems to be in very good spirits, which is a huge improvement from the condition he has been in since Monday. We have been in contact with his owner and learned that his name is Booger. We would like to thank everyone for their kindness, well wishes, and support. CAHS is very grateful to be part of such of wonderful community. For those of you who would still like to help with Booger’s medical expenses, all donations may be directed to our Special Care and Cruelty Fund… . We will continue to keep you updated on his progress.”

The CAHS is offering a $2,100 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot the cat.
Once Booger recovers, he will be returned to his owner, an elderly woman with other pets who are all reportedly well cared for and have current veterinary records, The Detroit News said. Booger will have to live indoors when he goes home, though. He wasn’t an outdoor cat before he was shot, but sometimes ventured outside.
Anyone who knows anything about how the cat was shot is asked to call Eaton County Animal Control at (517) 543-5755, CAHS at (517) 626-6060 or the Eaton County Sheriff Department at (517) 543-3512.
“This is still an open and active investigation,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman Theresa Odell told The Detroit News. “We’re talking to all the neighbors and the property owners that adjoin where they did find the cat. We don’t have any new leads or anything but that’s what’s going on.”
