Chinese Company to Invest $26M, Create 125 Area Jobs
Announcement that CW Bearing will build U.S. headquarters in Northville Township follows Gov. Rick Snyder's trade mission.

A bearing company based in China will invest nearly $26 million in its new U.S. headquarters in Northville Township. The project is expected to create 125 jobs.
Gov. Rick Snyder made the announcement this week after returning from an eight-day trade mission to China that included a meeting in Shanghai with CW Bearings, USA, Inc., Hometownlife.com reports.

“CW Bearing’s decision to locate its U.S. headquarters in southeast Michigan signals to corporate leaders across the globe (Michigan) offers great opportunities for their business expansion,” Snyder said. “This comes as we return from a busy, productive week developing and strengthening relationships that will lead to new investments, new export opportunities, and more jobs for Michiganders and our communities.”
The company, which produces bearing components used in the electronic power steering systems that are replacing hydraulic systems, already has a significant presence in the United States, with operations in Michigan, North Carolina and California.

The company’s U.S. headquarters will also include an engineering and technical center and advanced manufacturing operations. The company has qualified for a $550,000 capital investment of $25.9 million and create 125 jobs, resulting in a $550,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
Northville Township was chosen over three other U.S. locations. Jay Click, the company’s director of sales in the United States, said the Northville Township location near the center of the North American auto industry will allow the company to better support its “customer first” philosophy.
