MOD Pizza Celebrates Grand Opening in Southgate
Grand opening celebration will include "Pay What You Want" fundraiser benefiting the Southgate Education Foundation
TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), a Michigan-based family-owned restaurant group with an expansive portfolio of casual, quick service and family dining restaurants throughout the state, will celebrate the grand opening of its Southgate MOD Pizza restaurant on Friday, December 21 with an all-day “Pay What You Want” fundraiser with proceeds benefiting the Southgate Education Foundation, an organization that provides educational opportunities for children and their families in the Southgate Community School District. The new Southgate restaurant opened to the public on December 6 and is located at 16258 Fort Street. TSFR Brand Leader of MOD Pizza Jake Schostak made the announcement.
“At MOD, we make pizza so we can serve people. We call it Spreading MODness,” said Schostak. “And, with every restaurant grand opening comes the unique opportunity to spread MODness in another community. Our team is excited to join the Southgate community, and we’re proud to celebrate by partnering with the Southgate Education Foundation. We’re looking forward to meeting each one of our new neighbors as they come out to experience MOD and support this outstanding organization.”
The “Pay What You Want” event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and run through dinner service. Guests can pay an amount of their choosing for their meal, with all proceeds supporting the Southgate Education Foundation in its mission to support excellence in education and provide opportunities that enrich Southgate Community Schools.

“Our school district is filled with some of the most generous and dedicated people in our community,” said Jill Pastor, superintendent of the Southgate Community Schools and president for the Southgate Education Foundation. “We know that it takes an entire community coming together to enact change and provide for others, and this event is a perfect opportunity to put those words into action. We’re thrilled that TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants and MOD Pizza have selected our organization for this amazing event that is sure to be a success.”
MOD Pizza uses fresh-pressed dough and signature sauces, including MOD red sauce and MOD white sauce. Guests can create their own pizzas and salads, using any combination of 30 featured toppings, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics. Each pizza is hand-cooked in an 800-degree oven in just minutes, and salads are hand-tossed in front of the customer. MOD Pizza also serves handspun milkshakes and house-made lemonades and iced teas.
