Pappas sentenced to 9-20 Years
Wyandotte woman pleads to second-degree murder in death of newborn baby boy

Kimberly Pappas stood before the judge, members of her family and the community, Oct. 26, and apologized for killing her newborn baby boy.
The apology came moments before the Wyandotte woman was sentenced to 9-20 years in prison by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow.
According to the Detroit News, members of Pappas’ family offered words of forgiveness and support and promised “as many visits as we can.”
Pappas pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree murder, killing the full-term newborn by asphyxiation and placing the boy in a plastic bag in her office desk drawer at her Redford Township job March 31.
Initially, prosecutors sought a premeditated felony murder and child abuse conviction, but these charges were dismissed during sentencing Monday.
