Relief at the Pump: Gas Prices Falling from Summer Peak

The cheapest gas in Wyandotte is $3.89 per gallon, but prices are expected to continue falling in coming weeks.

The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal.

AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.79 today; one year ago today, the national average was $3.50 per gallon.

“Retail gasoline prices have slowly been drifting lower since we hit a late summer peak of $3.8708 a gallon on Sept. 14,” Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS), told the Wall Street Journal. He added that gas prices could fall into the $3.70s this week.

On Thursday afternoon in Wyandotte, the cheapest regular unleaded gas is at RKA Biddle, 2000 Biddle, and both of which are selling at $3.89 a gallon, a dime higher than the national average.
