The two-day, multi-state enforcement crackdown is designed to reduce commercial vehicle crashes.

You may notice more state police along the Interstate 75 corridor from western Michigan to the metro Detroit urban core Tuesday and Wednesday.

“This initiative is part of the statewide Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety campaign, based on the national strategy on highway safety, which seeks to reduce the number of traffic deaths on our freeways,” Capt. Michael Krumm, commander of the MSP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, said in a statement.
Police will be focusing on both violations committed by commercial driver and operators of passenger vehicles traveling near them. They’ll be on the watch for violations that are likely to contribute to an accident, including speed, following too closely, improper passing and improper land use, Krumm said.
