MN Not Among 16 States To Hit 70 Percent Adult Vaccination Rate
Minnesota's vaccination rate is behind at least 16 other states and Washington D.C.
MINNESOTA — As of Tuesday, sixteen states and Washington D.C. can boast that 70 percent of their adult population has received at least one dose of the coronavirus. Minnesota is not one of them.
After peaking in April — when 1,605,248 doses were administered — the state's vaccination rate has slowed significantly. So far in June, less than 300,000 doses have been administered.
As of Tuesday, 3,029,339 — or 66.4 percent — of Minnesotans 16 and older have received at least one dose.

While the counties in the Twin Cities metro area blew past the 70 percent milestone weeks ago, many counties in rural Minnesota have only recently reached 50 percent. In Todd County, only 38 percent of adults 16 and old have received a dose of the vaccine.
In May, Gov. Tim Walz set a goal of getting 70 percent of Minnesotans 16 and older to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by July 1, but the state is on pace to miss that goal by a wide margin.
