MN School District Cancels First Day Of Classes
Minneota Public Schools made the decision to cancel the day before school was set to start.
LYON COUNTY, MN — Minneota Public Schools, a district located in the far southwestern region of Minnesota, was force to cancel classes hours before they were set to start Monday.
On Sunday, the district announced that a staff member tested positive for coronavirus and there was possible exposure Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
"We have worked with MDH to identify those who had close contact with the case, and have communicated with them individually,"Dan Deitte, the district superintendent, stated.

"The risk of exposure for other individuals present in the building on those dates is no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community."
The school board decided that "out of an abundance of caution" they will delay the start of the school year until Sept. 1. The district was planning on holding classes in-person due to decreases in the number of COVID-19 cases in Lyon county
