MN Weather: Record Heat Possible Monday Before 'Soaking Pattern'

Monday will be hot while the rest of the week is wet and cooler.

MINNESOTA — Time to put away that shovel, if it's still out. Minnesota could see record-high temperatures for April in the Twin Cities metro area Monday.

"We look to approach or break high temperature records this afternoon, with highs in the low 80s and records currently forecast to be broken for Eau Claire and MSP," says the National Weather Service.

Tuesday through Friday will feature chances for thunderstorms amid a "soaking" pattern:

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 2am, then a slight chance of showers between 2am and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. North wind around 10 mph.
Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 7pm. Low around 53. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 64. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
