Burnsville 'Wow!' House: Goes Well With Your Oxfords And Cadillac
This house stands out from the profusion of late-1970's-to-early-2000's homes in Burnsville. What's the opposite of claustrophobic?
BURNSVILLE, MN — Many of the homes listed for sale in Burnsville were built before anyone ever heard of open concept. Their chief selling points tend to be lakeside footage and evergreen beauty all around, rather than the airy multi-spaces we have come to expect of home interiors. One question. What extroverted Prius-driving ad exec decided we always have to be visible from at least five rooms at once? There's something to be said for the coziness of the prior era.
This stately house on Timber Ridge Drive has a few things to say about both eras. The front facade's vertical thrust calls to mind a pair of classic Oxford shoes. The rear is more organic: the formal lines broken up by a two-story bay window column, a rounded stone patio area and, yes, mature evergreens in the tiered garden.
The interior, while bearing some of the dark-wood squarishness of its predecessors, strives towards a more ambitious and spacious Classicism, replete with Corinthian columns in the main living area. Other contemporary touches include a granite kitchen island, heated floors in the 3.5 bathrooms, and Pella windows tinted for privacy (just like in your Cadillac that you drive while wearing your Oxfords.)
