Eden Prairie Boys Win State Golf Title

The Eagles finished a stroke ahead of runner-up Wayzata.

The Eden Prairie boys’ golf team edged out Wayzata to take home this year’s AAA state championship Thursday at Bunker Hills.

The Eagles’ 609 score was just one stroke ahead of the runner-up in the nail-biter.

Junior Zach Peters was part of the reason Eden Prairie pulled ahead. His score of 146 tied him for second place and put him two strokes ahead of the leading Wayzata golfer.

Other Eden Prairie golfers in the tournament were:

  • Sophomore Matt Shawd, tied for 17th place, 153
  • Senior Joe  Kuderer, tied for 28th place, 155
  • Sophomore Jack Koehler, tied for 40th place, 159
  • Junior Ryan Mayer, tied for 54th place, 163
  • Junior Davis Oberle, tied for 54th place, 163

In the girls’ competition, senior Diane Gibas finished in 18th place with a score of 163.
