Eden Prairie Readies for Gopher Classic Baseball Tournament
The community is home to a site in the largest American Legion tournament in the United States.

Eden Prairie is gearing up to host key games of the 2013 Jim Hanus Gopher Classic Baseball Tournament.
The Gopher Classic is the largest American Legion tournament in the United States. Ninety teams will play at 15 Twin Cities sites between Friday and Tuesday.

All 90 teams will compete in pool play for the right to advance to the single-elimination championship rounds. The 15 pool winners and one second place team will advance.
One of the 15 sites is in Eden Prairie. Round Lake Stadium will be site 8. The championship rounds will be played at Veterans Field in Minnetonka.Â

Among area Legion teams:
- Eden Prairie is in pool 8 playing at Round Lake Stadium in Eden Prairie.
- Excelsior is in pool 14 playing at Veterans Field in Minnetonka.
- Excelsior (Team #2) is in pool 2 playing at Benilde-St. Margaret’s in St. Louis Park.
- Hopkins is in pool 11 playing at Big Willow Park in Minnetonka.
- Edina is in pool 9 playing at Braemar Park in Edina.

- 9 a.m.: Eden Prairie vs. Lino Lakes
- 7:30 p.m.: Eden Prairie vs. Sioux Falls East
- 8 p.m.: Edina vs. Omaha—Creighton Prep

- 11:45 a.m.: Edina vs. Tri City (New Brighton)
- 7:30 p.m.: Eden Prairie vs. Moline
- 8 p.m.: Edina vs. Ash Port
Sunday
- 5 p.m.: Eden Prairie vs. Marshall
- 5:15 p.m.: Edina vs. Lakeville South
- 7:30 p.m.: Eden Prairie vs. Huron
- 8 p.m.: Edina vs. Oakdale
Tuesday
- 9 a.m.: Semifinals
- 11:30 a.m.: Semifinals
- 2 p.m.: Championship
