Hospital Gives Away Life Jackets at Bryant Lake

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for Minnesota children between one and 14.

In an attempt to fight childhood drownings and water-related injuries, a local hospital network gave out almost 700 life jackets at Twin Cities beaches last month, including at Eden Prairie's Bryant Lake.

According to the Sun Sailor, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota teamed up with UnitedHealthcare to distribute the goods on July 10.

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for Minnesota children between one and 14. Only car crashes kill more.

The hospital network is running a campaign called “Making Safe Simple” aimed at reducing the rates of common childhood injuries.
