Last Chance To File for Eden Prairie School Board

At this fall's election, three members will be elected to the school board for four-year terms.

Tuesday is your last chance to file for Eden Prairie's School Board.

The filing period for the November School Board election is July 30 through Aug. 13. At this fall’s election, three members will be elected to the school board for four-year terms.

Murshid Barud announced a run for the board using the announcement area on Eden Prairie Patch. If you file, make sure to post it here too.

Four candidates who filed before Friday are current School Board Chair Ranee Jacobus, Holly Link, Elaine Larabee and Barud. Board members Suzanne Kutina and Chuck Mueller, who were elected in 2009, are unlikely to run again.

A candidate for the school board must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 21 years old at the time the term of office begins
  • Have resided in the school district for 30 days prior to the election
  • Be an eligible voter, which includes the requirement that the individual be a citizen of the United States
Affidavits of candidacy are available from the district’s Administrative Services Center at 8100 School Road, Eden Prairie. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for school board must not have any other affidavit on file for any other elected office during the same general election.
