Local High School Seniors recognized for academic achievement

Minnesota Connections Academy awards honor cords to graduates for academic achievement and exemplary effort

Eight Minnesota Connections Academy (MNCA) graduating seniors from Hennepin County were among the 50 students awarded honor cords in recognition of their academic achievement or leadership in the virtual classroom.

The following students were among the 43 MNCA graduating seniors who were awarded Gold Honor Cords for excellence in academic achievement by maintaining a grade point average of 3.6 and above:

  • Kately Boche of Bloomington
  • Maia Nguyen of Bloomington
  • Abigail Thelen of Eden Prairie
  • Najma Ali of Eden Prairie
  • Elizabeth Curiskis of Minneapolis
  • James Lenberg of Minneapolis
  • Sarah Ruckett of Minneapolis
  • Sara Magnuson of Minneapolis

Eleven seniors were awarded Silver Honor Cords by each of MNCA’s academic departments in recognition of the exemplary effort and leadership the students provided in the virtual classroom.

“Our students at Minnesota Connections Academy come to us from many different backgrounds seeking an academic setting where they can thrive,” said MNCA Principal Melissa Gould. “I congratulate our 2020 Honor Cord recipients for their achievements in the classroom. The persistence and commitment to excellence they demonstrated through their high school experience will no doubt bring them many successes in the future.”

Minnesota Connections Academy provides students statewide with a high-quality, personalized online education. The online school combines certified teachers, a proven curriculum, as well as technology tools, and community experiences—online and in person—to create a supportive environment for those who want an individualized approach to education.
