Planned Parenthood Supporters to Deliver 5,626 Medical Swabs to Rep. Eric Paulsen After Vote on Access to Care at Planned Parenthood

Events happening across the country in response vote on the worst piece of legislation for women in a generation

Eden Prairie, MN – Tomorrow, Planned Parenthood supporters will gather outside of Rep. Eric Paulsen’s office and deliver more than 5,000 medical swabs, used for cancer screenings and STD testing, to represent each of the 5,626 Medicaid patients at Planned Parenthood that would be impacted in Paulsen’s district.

Representative Paulsen will vote on new health care legislation that would block millions of low income women from coming to Planned Parenthood for breast exams, cancer screenings and birth control. This bill will impact 24,000 Planned Parenthood patients in Minnesota who rely on Medicaid for their insurance, including 5,626 patients in his district.

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll shows that 75% of Americans, including majorities of both Republican women and Republican men, support federal Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood. A new FOX News poll also shows that the majority of Americans have a favorable view of Planned Parenthood. Not only do 57% of FOX News respondents view Planned Parenthood favorably, but that number has increased by 7% since FOX news polled registered voters back in 2015. One in five women in America have relied on Planned Parenthood for health care.

When politicians say they want to defund Planned Parenthood, what they’re really saying is they want to block Medicaid patients from the cancer screenings, birth control, well woman exams that they depend on. Planned Parenthood supporters are rallying and organizing to make sure this does not happen.
