School of Rock Beginner Guitar Camp

Designed for ages 7 – 15, this camp is taught by professional musicians who specialize in teaching kids.

School of Rock Eden Prairie Beginner Guitar Camp is two days (9am - 3pm each day) that will teach complete beginners how to tune their guitar, familiarize them with the parts of the guitar and how to care for them, how to connect the guitar to the amp and how to work the amp properly to avoid feedback and blowing out the amp.

Campers will be exposed to the basic fundamentals of playing the guitar such as playing chords, strumming and picking while learning to play rock songs like 7 Nation Army by The White Stripes and Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones.

Day 1

Morning: Become familiar with the guitar. (Names of parts, tuning, plugging in, caring for your guitar.)
Afternoon: Learn your first song!

Day 2:

Morning: Learn your second song.
Afternoon: Play your songs with a rhythm section!

WHAT TO BRING:

1. Students will need to bring their own electric guitar to participate in this camp.
2. Students will also need a pair of earplugs (can be purchased at School of Rock on first day of camp for $15).
3. Bring a lunch each day. There is a refrigerator to keep items cold and a soda machine (75cents). There is a water faucet but you are encouraged to bring a bottle of water with you.

School of Rock provides the amps, cables, tuners and picks to use during camp.
