Algae Fatal To Dogs Found In Twin Cities Lake
The algal toxins in the lake can pose a health risk for both pets and people.

EDINA, MN — The public is asked to completely avoid the water in Edina's Mirror Lake after environmental officials confirmed "high numbers" of blue-green algae last month. The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District notes that this type of algae can produce toxins that pose a health risk to both pets and people.
The district says an Aug. 19 water sample from the lake exceeded the World Health Organization threshold for moderate risk of adverse health impacts from algal toxins. Pets and people should stay out of the water until the blue-green numbers decline to safer levels.
The algae can be especially dangerous for dogs. Read more about it here: Algae Fatal To Dogs Found In Minnesota: Health Officials
