Boys Lacrosse Raises $7,300, Varsity Wins Against Alumni
About 300 fans were treated to a free picnic lunch during the First Edina Boys High School Lacrosse Day.

The First Edina Boys High School Lacrosse Day was Sunday, July 7.
Patch reader Alan Goltzman provided the following recap:Â
"The day started out with the Edina Lacrosse Association youth program playing two games. First, a U15 and U13 combined game. Second, a U11 game.
"Both games were refereed by the varsity head coach Travis Wells and the varsity offensive coach Ryan Bailey.
"There was a free picnic lunch for the 300 fans that came to watch the teams play.
"The youth games were followed by the main event: the Edina alumni game. Edina graduates coached by this years Edina Lacrosse Hall of Fame recipient Paul Ferry played against this year's varsity team and current coaches.
"The game was more exciting and more competitive than either side expected. With the varsity down by one, 10-11 with a minute to go Senior Ted Goltzman scored the tying goal to send it into overtime.
"Overtime saw Edina Freshman goalie Luke Cohen make a toe save on University of St. Thomas Senior David Burke. The ball made its way downfield to Edina 2013 graduate Derek Todd. Derek's quick shot scored the winning goal, for a 12-11 Edina Varsity victory.
"Not only was it an exciting day of lacrosse, it also capped off a week in which the Edina boys Lacrosse team raise over $7,300 from their online auction! The event was sponsored by Twin City Orthopedic, Jerry's Foods, and Aspire Beverages.
