David Woodrow, 3M's Director of Aviation, Dies at 88

David M. Woodrow, who retired from 3M after a 43-year career as Director of Aviation and served on the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Commission and the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, died on Oct. 18 at the age of 88.

A longtime Edina resident, Woodrow is survived by four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, according to a Star Tribune obituary.

Born in Newton, Iowa, he attended Iowa State and the University of Iowa before joining the navy in 1943.

"My childhood is peppered with fond recollections of time spent with Uncle Dave and Aunt Betty," Jennifer Ogle of Fort Collins, Co., wrote on a Legacy.com message board. "Favorite memories include playing "dictionary" at their house in Edina and going boating on the lake."

A memorial service is being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Presbyterian Church, with visitation an hour before the service and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
