Edina High Students Help Build Home for Robbinsdale Family

Student Kyle Schwartz wanted to get a team together to help a family this summer through Habitat for Humanity.

Edina High School offers a variety of activities through its Youth Serving Youth program to its students each year.

However, volunteers for programs, such as Habitat for Humanity, many times have to be sought out, according to Rachael Pream Grenier, the program's supervisor. Until this year.

Earlier this month, Kyle Schwartz, 11 of his EHS peers and five chaperones, spent the day working on construction of a home in Robbinsdale.

“Normally I have been working with Habitat for Humanity in the winter and have had to initiate the projects and seek out volunteers,” Grenier said in a school article. “This spring, however, I was approached by Kyle and he said he really wanted to get a group together and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in the summer.”

According to the article, they learned about more than just home construction. The volunteers also got to meet and get to the know the family they were building the home for.
