Edina Man Designs App to Connect Kids to History

"History Hero" inspired by his own children's philistinism.

Dismayed by his children's philistinism on a recent family vacation to Rome and London, Edina resident Mitch Zamoff designed an iPad app to help get children interested in history, according to KSTP.

"History Hero" forces kids to soak up knowledge about parts of museums and historic sites as part of a game to save the world from evil aliens. The app works with museums in the Twin Cities and around the world, including in New York, Paris, London, and Washington D.C.

So far, testing the app on his own kids has been successful—they're already clamoring to go to local museums and historic sites to play the game. Reviewers in Apple's App Store have also been positive.

"We definitely got more out of our sightseeing experience with History Heros because we stayed at the museums and cathedrals longer and learned a lot about what we were seeing," wrote one.
