Edina Snowboarder Defeats Olympian for U.S. Nationals Medal

Emma Crosby earned the silver medal in the Open Class Rail Jam competition at the 2013 Snowboard Nationals.

Emma Crosby, an Edina resident and junior at Edina High School, recently defeated an Olympian to bring home the silver medal at the 2012 Snowboard Nationals in Copper Mountain, CO.

Crosby, 16, won the silver medal in the Open Class Rail Jam event, which included Olympic Snowboardcross and Slopestyle rider Faye Gulini. Gulini is also a member of the world championship team.

"It's not every day you get to say you beat an Olympic Athlete, so I was pretty excited to compete against and then beat Faye Gulini," Crosby said. "Faye asked me if I was competing in Boardercross (which is her specialty) and I was a little embarrassed to say, 'No, Faye, that category is all yours,' so I just said, ‘Not this year.'"
