Edinans Involved in Three-Vehicle Crash on I-35

Icy road conditions are believe to have played a role in a three-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning on Interstate 35, which injured two people, including an Edina resdient.

Gordon J. Spartz, 70, of Edina, received minor injuries when his Buick Rainier was struck by an out-of-control vehicle driven by a Northfield woman.

Amanda J. Gunter, 28, of Northfield, was driving her Nissan Pathfinder northbound on I-35 when her vehicle lost control, crossed the median and collided with two other vehicles, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Spartz was transported to District One Hospital Faribault. His passenger, Virginia M. Spartz, 70, of Edina, wasn't injured.

Gunter wasn't injured, but Justin C. Gunter, 36, of Northfield, received minor injuries, according to the State Patrol. He was transported to District One Hospital in Faribault.

Michael S. Smith, 32, of Medford, was driving his Pontiac Grand Prix when it was hit by Gunter's car. He was uninjured, according to the MSP.

The State Patrol isn't reporting if anyone was wearing their seat belts or if airbags deployed.
