Swollen by recent tempests, Minnehaha Creek is now being described as a dangerous waterway for canoers and kayakers, according to the Star Tribune.
The newspaper quotes the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District as saying the creek is flowing at a little under 300 cubic feet of water per second, twice what's normally deemed a "safe."
“It’s definitely user-beware,” said Watershed District spokeswoman Telly Mamayek, adding that canoeists and kayakers should use extreme caution if they venture out on the creek or consider rescheduling their treks. “People like to be on the creek … but people need to be mindful of the conditions.”
The Watershed District's website also mentions several trees being down along the creek's route.
