The range of emotions we are all feeling regarding the death of Mr. George Floyd, including sorrow, grief, anger and frustration, is nearly impossible to express. On behalf of the City of Edina, our community extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Floyd’s family and friends. The pain and suffering being endured by those affected by this tragedy touches all of us as residents of the Twin Cities, as Minnesotans, as Americans and as human beings.

The City is committed to guiding our community through the type of change that makes Edina even more inviting and inclusive. While progress has been made, there is much more work to do. As a City, we have not always gotten it right in the past on issues of race and equity, but we are committed to learning from those experiences so we can grow together. The City is committed to leading our community in a way that both appreciates and values the humanity of everyone.
We know that together, we can be better both today and tomorrow and it is up to all of us to make it so.
