Walmart Parking Lot Fire Burns 2 Girls In North Metro

The victims, ages 6 and 9, were hospitalized after suffering burns and inhaling smoke.

FRIDLEY, MN — A Walmart parking lot has reopened after a Tuesday morning vehicle fire that burned several vehicles and injured two girls. Authorities responded to scene just after 7 a.m. on a report of a minivan on fire.

Police told FOX 9 that the blaze then spread to the two vehicles on the sides of the minivan. One of the vehicles on the side had two children inside.

Five vehicles were affected by the fire in total, KSTP reports. The victims, ages 6 and 9, were hospitalized after suffering burns and inhaling smoke. One of those girls suffered "possibly life-threatening injuries," the news station said.

Police say access to the parking lot is still limited to the north entrance. The service roads are open.

No arrests have been made, but authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
