Hennepin County is offering virtual fix-it clinics get help residents with their broken items and help them learn valuable repair skills.

Residents will receive guided assistance from volunteers with repair skills to disassemble, troubleshoot, and fix items free of charge. Fixable items include small household appliances, clothing, electronics, mobile devices and more.
How it works
- Please fill out the intake form.
- Hennepin County will review the form and respond within two business days to provide general advice and discuss next steps.
- Hennepin County will connect you with a volunteer through email.
- You and your volunteer will set up a time to meet virtually using Microsoft Teams (instructions for logging in will be provided).
What you need
You will need a laptop, tablet or phone, and Internet connection that allows for video conferencing. It’s helpful to have a second person in your household helping you aim the camera and help with disassembly and repairs.

It is recommended to have common tools on hand to help with the project.
- Phillips and standard screwdrivers
- Needle nose and regular pliers
- Flashlight
- Soldering iron and solder
- Basic voltmeter and wires to measure AC and DC voltage and resistance (if your item is electrical and not working)
