Input Needed From Golden Valley Residents For Housing Engagement Initiative

After, residents are to participate in the Open House Survey and give feedback on each proposed site.

September 14, 2020

The City is exploring how City-owned vacant land at 300 Turner’s Crossroad N, 504 Lilac Dr N, and 2415 Douglas Dr N could be used for single-family and multi-family affordable housing. Multiple engagement opportunities are now available for residents to share their thoughts.

Virtual Open House Survey

Now through the end of September residents are encouraged to visit gvmnhousing.org and

  • learn about the existing site conditions, current and potential zoning, and advantages and disadvantages each have regarding development;
  • answer short surveys for each site, where you can also provide feedback that will be used by the City to help determine the eventual housing product;
  • ask questions of project team members and city staff (answers will be updated weekly and will be available for any site visitors to review).

After, residents are to participate in the Open House Survey and give feedback on each proposed site.

Virtual Design Workshops

For residents looking to be more active and creative in the project, the City is offering Virtual Design Workshops for a chance to imagine what a future development might look like.

The workshops will include: a live, simultaneous meeting with other participants and the project team; an opportunity to work collaboratively with other participants to develop one or more design options for each site; a chance to use interactive online drawing tools to work with others on the design, or just watch and provide suggestions; and a discussion of ideas with the Project Team and other participants during the design exercise.

Each site will have its own workshop.
