Richard was a sergeant in the US Army during WWII serving mainly in Germany and France.  After returning home he attended the U of M and worked for Soo Line Railroad until his retirement in 1983.  He served on boards for Soo Line Credit Union and North Hennepin Community College.  He was a talented artist and taught rosmaling and wood carving in his retirement.  A devoted Gopher fan, he never missed a game.  Quick with a joke and a smile, he touched many lives.

Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In honor of the generous and beautiful life he lived, please consider donations to the following in  memoriam: Minnesota DNR Conservation Volunteer, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, or Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley.
