Perpich Student Sponsored to Attend Rotary Camp Enterprise

More than 100 Minnesota/Wisconsin high school students gathered at YMCA Camp Ihudhapi Nov. 1-3 for the 2018 Rotary Camp Enterprise. The Rotary Club of Golden Valley sponsored Perpich senior Charlie Kelley-Pegg to attend. The three-day camp is put on by the Rotary Club of Edina and Rotary Club of Edina Morningside for students in Rotary District 5950 serving central Minnesota and Rotary District 5960 serving northwestern Wisconsin to southeastern Minnesota. The students were all sponsored by area Rotary clubs, and learned about the free enterprise system. They worked together, with the help of mentors and counselors, to come up with a business plan and presentation. Guest speaker at this year's Camp Enterprise was Sondra Samuels, President & CEO of the Northside Achievement Zone. Charlie stated that one of Samuels' quotes, "You cannot procrastinate for a marathon," was significant to them. Charlie said that they learned a lot about business at the retreat. "I learned a lot about the importance of teamwork and really got the chance to expand my horizons. I also learned how to integrate my art into the 'real world.'"
