Public Invited to “Beyond the Storybook” Family Event

Calvary Hosts Evening of Activities for Ages 0-5 & Their Parents on Nov. 10

Walt Disney once said, “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” In other words, literacy leads to experiences and opportunities beyond anyone’s imagination! In that spirit, the early childhood programs of Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, Minn., invite all families with young children (ages 0-5) to grow in their love of reading at “Beyond the Storybook,” a special event occurring Friday, Nov. 10.

Free hands-on activities will take place from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m.; an optional pizza dinner will be served from 5 to 5:45 p.m. for $5 per person or $15 maximum per family. Calvary is located at 7520 Golden Valley Road in Golden Valley.

Visit calvary.org/storybook to RSVP.

During “Beyond the Storybook,” families will travel from room to room where beloved storybooks and characters will be brought to life. Attendees will enjoy a variety of fun learning experiences through the eyes of some well-known bears, pigs, monkeys, caterpillars and pigeons. Families will also receive several complimentary resources to help them expand their reading experiences at home.

Mary Steinbicker, otherwise known as “Library Mary” at Golden Valley Library, will be a special guest at “Beyond the Storybook.” Mary is a Youth Services Librarian who hosts many story times and child-centered activities at the Golden Valley branch of the Hennepin County Library System.

Offering pre-K education, as well as full-time and flexible childcare, Calvary’s early childhood programs are a ministry of Calvary Lutheran Church. The mission of Calvary is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Established in 1946, Calvary offers five weekly worship services and a wide variety of activities for children, youth and adults. For more information, visit calvary.org or call 763-545-5659.
