Wirth Parkway Closed For Resurfacing In Golden Valley

July 7, 2020

Theodore Wirth Parkway between Golden Valley Rd and 29th Ave N is closed for Phase 1 of a City of Minneapolis resurfacing project that is expected to last four weeks. Traffic will be detoured via Golden Valley Rd, Penn Ave, and 29th Ave N (see detour map below).

Phase 2 is scheduled later in 2020 and will resurface the parkway between the railroad bridge and Plymouth Ave N.

Additional parkway sections are scheduled to be repaved in 2021 (see project map).

Please follow posted detours and use caution in areas where work is being performed.

Street resurfacing is a type of street maintenance that removes the top layer of asphalt pavement on a street and puts on a new layer of asphalt. This extends the life of the street between more expensive fixes. The asphalt pavement resurfacing is intended to last about 10 years.
