The City of Hopkins, including our colleagues at the Hopkins Police Department, extend our condolences and deepest sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of Daunte Wright, and to the entire Brooklyn Center community.

As a City, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the tragedy in Brooklyn Center. Our hearts break for our black community and for all communities of color who are in pain. It is unacceptable that we must repeat some of the same somber words we spoke just one year ago. We are committed to continuing our work with the Joint Community Policing Partnership (JCPP), our Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) and the Hopkins Race & Equity Initiative (HREI) and we are in the process of hiring a new analyst position with a focus on continuing our work to combat racial inequity. We encourage you to reach out and learn more about how to get involved in HREI and join them for the upcoming community conversation as we continue our commitment to making a more equitable community.
