Vail Place Expands Services, Announces Vail House
Vail Place Acquires Project for Pride in Living's Cabrini Transitional Housing Program to expand current housing services

Vail Place, a non-profit organization providing comprehensive services and resources for adults with serious mental illnesses, announced it has acquired the Cabrini Transitional House, a 23-bed Group Residential Housing (GRH) facility in Minneapolis. The facility is currently operated by Project for Pride in Living (PPL) and is located at 1025 Sixth St Southeast in Minneapolis. PPL is retaining the ‘Cabrini’ name, which is linked to their Supportive Housing Program, so the Transitional House will be renamed ‘Vail House.’ Vail House will continue to provide housing and services to support homeless adults with mental illness and chemical dependency needs.
“We are thrilled this essential program is becoming part of Vail Place, and we look forward to continuing its rich tradition of caring and effective services,” said Vicky Couillard, Executive Director for Vail Place. “The addition of a GRH facility will expand our current housing services, and advance our goal of helping fill the growing need for supportive housing options for some of our community’s most vulnerable people.”
The Cabrini Transitional House program provided housing designed to help adults manage mental health, maintain sobriety, and break the cycle of homelessness since 1985. Up to 23 residents can be served in the communal, transitional housing. Staff work with private landlords throughout Hennepin County to locate permanent housing for participants.

“We were very happy to learn that Vail Place was interested in assuming responsibility for the Cabrini Transitional House,” said Katherine Pollock, Director of Supportive Housing for Single Adults at PPL. “The Vail Place mission, its focus on individual and community, and the organization’s overall management and infrastructure made them an ideal choice. We know the program will be in good hands.”
