Last year, more than 14 million households in the United States reported being food insecure, meaning that, at times throughout the year, they did not have enough money to purchase or resources to acquire enough food to feed everyone in their household. The Sheridan Story is a nonprofit organization that combats child hunger through community and school partnerships. The organization provides bags of food to families so children have access to balanced, nutritious food for times when school is not in session.
Thanks to support from local businesses, Hilltop, Pine Bend, and Salem Hills elementary school families are able to sign up to receive bags of food for weekends and school breaks during Trimester 3. Bags are discreetly delivered to students each week, typically on Fridays.
